Rode Hall is a family home set in a Repton landscape of lake and woodland. There's also a terraced rock garden, a grotto, and a working kitchen garden near the big house. The head gardener, Kelvin Archer, is famous within the giant gooseberry growing world and locally for his champion entries. For more on giant gooseberry growing, see See Gooseberry shows


There are tea rooms, sales of plants and seasonal produce. There's also a Farmers' Market held here monthly.


Snowdrop walks are held daily (except Mondays) in February, along with an outdoor sculpture exhibition for Cheshire's Year of Gardens 08.


Opening times (2008):

Gardens: 1 Apr - 30 Sep 08, 14.00-17.00, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Also snowdrop walks 1 Feb - 2 Mar, 12.00-16.00, Tues-Sun.

House: 1 Apr - 30 Sep 08, 14.00-17.00, Wednesdays and bank holidays only.


Admission fee (2008):

House and garden: adult £5, children over 12 and senior citizens £4.

Garden only: adult £3, children over 12 and senior citizens £2.50.
