Rode Hall is a family home set in a Repton landscape of lake and woodland. There's also a terraced rock garden, a grotto, and a working kitchen garden near the big house. The head gardener, Kelvin Archer, is famous within the giant gooseberry growing world and locally for his champion entries. For more on giant gooseberry growing, see See Gooseberry shows


There are tea rooms, sales of plants and seasonal produce. There's also a Farmers' Market held here on the first Saturday of every month (except January).


Snowdrop walks are held during the season (see below).


Opening times (2012):

Gardens:

Snowdrop walks daily (not Mondays) 28 Jan - 11 Mar, 12.00-16.00 (tea room open at same time).

1 April onwards. Tues-Thurs and bank holiday Mondays, 12.00-17.00.

House:

5th April - end Sept, 14.00-17.00. Wed and bank holiday Mondays only.


Admission fee (2012):

House and garden: adult £6, seniors £5, children (5-15) £1.

Garden only: adult £4, seniors £3, children aged 5-15 £1.
