4. UV effectiveness on green pond water

According to Stapeley Water Garden's advisors, a UV unit should have an effect on existing green water within three weeks. If not, then you should check that the flow rate of water through the unit matches the recommended rate and can deal with the pond's volume.

Manufacturers tend to assume that a pond contains a few small fish plus plenty of plants, so you need to fit a larger UV unit than often recommended (or combine a couple) to deal with the specific demands of a Koi pond.

Can you help please?

We purchased a UV system recently to get rid of heavy algi.
The lamp has done a brilliant job, but the water is unclear and brown. The lamp has been installed for 6 weeks.
Could you please suggest what to do next?

Many thanks

Sounds like you haven't got a filter to remove all the dead algae (that's probably what the brown stuff is). If you go to this website's home page, click on 'ponds' from the menu on the left, and then choose an article on filters, you might find your answer there.
