1. Bulb onions

Sow winter-hardy types in summer or set in autumn for a crop in June/July (only some types suitable for storing).

Sow in winter/early spring or set in spring for a storable crop in August.

Grow at the spacing necessary for the bulb size required. For example, for the kitchen, space 5cm (2in) apart with rows 25-30cm (10-12in) apart.
